Automatic non-rebreathing valve.

چکیده
EFFICIENT ventilation of the anaesthetized patient, without carbon dioxide absorption, can be carried out using the valve to be described. It is simple, reliable, efficient and silent. In figure 1 A and E are low resistance valves. P, and P2 form a bypass opening into the balloon B, which lies free in the exit tube X. The balloon is made of very thin rubber and is of such a size that when inflated without any distension of its wall it completely occludes the exit tube. When collapsed it offers negligible resistance to expiration. T is a three-way tap which if desired will close P, and open P2 to the atmosphere. The dotted lines indicate that the reservoir bag and the proximal end of the bypass may be placed anywhere between the gas machine and valve A.

Experimental values for adjusting an automatic control valve in gas pipeline transportation
When a natural gas pipeline ruptures, the adjacent automatic line control valves (ALCVs) should close quickly to prevent leakage or explosion. The differential pressure set point (DPS) at each valve location is the main criteria for value setting in ALCV action. If the DPS is not properly adjusted, the ALCV may mistakenly close or it may not take any action at proper time. This study focused on...
متن کاملPressure flow characteristics of the valve in spacer devices.
The valve system in the mouth piece of two spacer devices was analysed. Pressures required to open and close the non-rebreathing valve were very low (less than 0.1 kPa). Inspiratory flow requirements were within physiological limits for infants' normal tidal breathing. Expiratory flow requirements varied significantly, and the flow required to prevent rebreathing from the chamber may exceed the...

متن کاملA Universal Valve for Anaesthetic Circuits.
Intermittent positive pressure respiration (IPPR) is best accomplished with a completely closed system during the inspiratory phase, so that all gas squeezed out of the reservoir bag will go to the patient's lungs. Under these conditions ventilation is volume-controlled. A low pressure in the system during the expiratory and resting phases will have least adverse effect on the patient; however,...
متن کاملMalfunction of the Expiratory Valve During Spontaneous Ventilation.
The integrity of inspiratory and expiratory unidirectional valves is very important in the normal functioning of an anesthetic circle breathing system. We describe our experience of an emergency manipulation of a ceramic valve disk of a circle breathing system (Dräger Fabius GS, Dräger Medical Inc) that altered its characteristics and led to rebreathing only during spontaneous ventilation.
